thank you very much

Has anyone else had any problems with hotfix kb890175???? I installed it, and next thing I know Itunes doesn't play no sound devices are shown as being installed in audio properties. Even though no devices are listed in the first tab all windows sounds play fine. Uninstalled the patch, and everything works perfect.

running XP pro SP2 on a asus p4pebp motherboard, and a soundblaster live

One of my customers partially lost network connectivity. They are not able
to browse through "My Computer" and are also unable to browse the internet.
They are, however, able to UNC to the server and establish remote desktop
connections out. DNS seems okay. Running Adaware, Spybot, HiJack This, etc
to see if I can figure out what got messed up.

As a followup to this.... The computer is completely adware/spyware free.
Interesting tidbit of information. If I type www.domainname.com into
Internet Explorer, it goes nowhere. If I type http://www.domainname.com into
Internet Explorer, it completes the connection just fine.

Very Odd...

Hi

Start regedit.exe
Go to the key
LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes

Verify that you have a REG_SZ value there with the name "www",
and that it contains the data "http://" (without the quotes).

If it does not, create/adjust it.

Thanks for the followup! All values accounted for. :) I should also mention
that I get a perpetual flashlight when I click on "My Computer". I can
manually type a drive letter into the address bar and get through.

Thanks!
