Hotfixes woes :S

My system is Windows XP SP1a. I only have 192MB free space in C: so I
definitely cannot install SP2.

What happens if I start uninstalling some of the Windows XP Hotfixes. I got
like 30 of them in my Add Remove Programs list.

Before installing SP2, I would either clear more space on the HD or get a
new one. When free space gets to the minimum, problems can begin to appear,
and you are cutting it pretty close.
If you insist, though, you can uninstall hotfixes that are included in
SP2...
PROVIDED:
that you go offline and use an SP2 disk for installing your new service
pack.
You can also eliminate your Hibernation file, reduce System Restore, and get
rid of the Hotfix Uninstall files, if you have any, and believe the Hotfix
is causing no problems.

I don't want to install SP2 because I have no space! I think you need like

patch, then SasserWorm. Then through Windows Update, numerous updates ---
which I think is the Hotfixes.

Am on a Tiscalli broadband and Tiscalli have a firewall on their side, so
it's really secured, and I don't really need all these hotfixes.

You really should put some of your files on CD. That gives you 700 MB right
there!
Or buy a new HD.
Many of your Hotfixes are incorporated into SP2, as is SP1a.
SP2 is a "rollup" of previous Updates.
Make room for SP2, for goodness sake! Are you using an ancient computer with
no CD burner, by any chance?
Bottom line: do not run without Critical Updates. You cannot put the burden
on Tiscalli and then complain if things go awry.

rarely and delete them. You will be surprised how much space will be freed

Hi,

Do *not* delete them by running them from Add/Remove Programs (ARP),
this will uninstall important security updates.

To remove the uninstall folders (and their corresponding entries in
ARP), you can use this utility by fellow MVP Doug Knox (Windows 2000
and XP):
