Matt

I am getting Event 7063 and 5504 as described in KB-
838969 and wondered if the hotfix can be downloaded any
other place besides calling in and paying for support?
Anyone else had this issue? Win 2K sp4 running DNS and
is AD integrated. We are experiencing issue in the event
log that says the server is configured to forward to a
non-recursive DNS server with IP address xx.xx.xx.xx. We
have one forwarder setup and that is the only one we want
or need setup. This system has worked fine for ~ 2 years
and all of a sudden we are experiencing this issue.
Ports are all locked (Except for what we need), no known
viruses attacking the system and completely updated.
TIA

You don't have to pay to get a hotfix.

It seems clear from the knowledgebase article and
searching technet that this is the only problem like it
and is definitely the EXACT problem we are having, the
DNS server referred to in the Event Log isn't even in our
list of forwarders, which have all been working fine for
ages. Microsoft state in the article;

"Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily
incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft
Support Professional determines that a specific update
will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will
apply to additional support questions and issues that do
not qualify for the specific update in question."

But you have to buy support first and hope they cancel
it? for something that you dont have to pay for? Great...

Being told you dont have to pay for a hot fix doesn't
really help. Being told how and where to GET the hot fix
WITHOUT paying for support WOULD help, anybody have any
idea how to obtain this hotfix?

For clarification, what we need is this...
