Hosts file

I have had problem viewing links at a certain website. I was told to rename
Windows Hosts file in Windows System32. This corrected the problem but I
wonder if renaming this file has any undesirable implications.

windows automatically will make a new fresh blank HOSTS , I assume you've
added or some program added junk in your renamed one... maybe open them both
in notepad and compare

Hello, If the "hosts" file is being used to stop unwanted sites then the site
you are visiting maybe on this list. If so one way is to open "hosts" file
and search for this url and remove, second way is to rename "hosts" to
"hosts.old" before visiting the site and after leaving the site rename the
"hosts" file back to "hosts" to keep it functioning.
Take Care.
