Homeworld 2 and VISTA

Hi i have Homeworld 2 and i'm trying to get it working under VISTA, during
installation, it copies all files successfully but then it say's Direct X9
isn't installed, and so it runs the installer for direct X, which crashes for
some reason(always happens when an installer tries to run an external
program) anyway, after that, the whole installer crashes and then removes the
Homeworld install.. so, next time i install up to that point, but instead of
letting it (attempt) install Direct X i copied the Homeworld 2 folder to
somewhere else, i let the installer crash and delete the files, and then i
moved the copies in, i try to start the game..... blank screen flash, back to
desktop. anyone know how to get this working?

my specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 939 CPU
DFI NForce4 Ultra Infinity MOBO
1GB of RAM
GeForce 6800GS GFX
Creative sound blaster Live Value

i'm running the 32bit version of VISTA and have tried the compatibility
options on all the .exe files.

Hi. I'm having the same exact problem. Homeworld 2 ran OK on Vista Beta, but
not now. Any help would be appreciated.

Same is happening to me. The DEP keeps closing the program. It is very very
annoying and I want to play my Warlords.

Hi. I found that Homeworld 2 without the updte patch MAY run on Vista. I'm
not sure if it's just a random installation of Vista or Homeworld 2 that will
work. The OS does not like my video drivers, and every time I play the game I
have to reset all the game paramaters: Expert, hard, etc. Saved games seem to
play exactly where they left off. Hope this helps. Before my hard disk went
belly-up, I was duel-booting XP and Vista. That worked, but it was a pain.
