Homepage has been corruped, cannot change

C

Craig

My homepage has been involuntarily changed to e-
catalog.org. I have tried to change it several times, I
have Norton SystemWorks and have also purchased Spyblocs
2. Even after these steps, the homepages changes back to
e-catalog.org. Now the computer will not allow me to get
my desktop, but the modem attempts to connect on its own.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Craig,

It sounds as if you've been Hijacked. You've been a victom of spyware/adware. The good news is that it's a easy fix. The easiest way to fix it is to go to the following web address http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html and download a free copy of "Hijackthis". It's a fairly small program so it's not too painful to download over a dial-up. Once you dowload it, go ahead and install the program, it's pretty self explanatory. It will remove the code that is causing your problem. you can then go back and set your homepage to whatever you choose. Hope this helps.

I tried the Hijackthis program. It found 11 e-catalog.org files.
I check the boxes and it said it deleted and fixed them. When I scan
again, the same files keep reappearing. It didn't work for me.
Anyone else have suggestions?
thanks, tom g
