Homepage-changing virus

Hi. I couldn't change my homepage (if I did, it just
reverted), so I ran system restore--now it works fine. I
was wondering if system restore gets rid of viruses, or
is it possible for the still-there virus to send my
credit card # over the internet if I buy online? Does
reinstalling the operating system destroy any chance of a
virus surviving? Thanks.

TRy using Spybot it really worked for me even though it
has some limitations!!
