homenetwork problem

I have 2 computers and a laptop networked thru a Linksys router with both
wired and wireless. A few weeks ago everything was fine but now cannot share
files or printer from the laptop. I can get online etc. but cannot access the
printer or shared files. I have tried troubleshooting even ping request. I
can ping all computers but still cannot access stuff. What might I have done
to cause this problem and how do I fix it?

Are all these machine in the same WORKGROUP? Check and make sure nothig
happened to the share(s) and or sharing services. This is a place to start
anyways.

Yes they are in the same workgroup. I think I've checked all the
share/sharing services. But perhaps I missed something

Diagnose the problem, with "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config
server", and "net config workstation", from each computer. Read this article,
and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Thanks for the reply, Chuck.
I ran "ipconfig/all" and found "peer to peer" on my laptop. I see in your
help pages I'll need to do a registry fix.
I am curious as to how this problem came up because my network was
functioning properly a few weeks ago.

That's for one computer - what about the other two?

Before you do though, and as you noted above, you do need to fix the name
resolution problem, then run all diagnoses again (all computers please). And
what is the complete and exact error message when you "cannot access stuff"
(very detailed problem report there)?

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I have not replied, but have been gone and quite busy.

Here is what I get when trying to view workgroup computors.
"Mshome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions.
The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."

I ran the network wizard again the other day and was able to access
everything but now it has reverted to its devious ways. So, here is the
ipconfig for all three computers.
Let me know what else you might need.

All three computers are Windows XP SP2 and can access the Internet.
Sometimes the others also experience the problem.

#1 - Laptop wired when at home most of the time, once in awhile I use it
wireless elsewhere in the house.

The node type of "Peer-to-Peer" on #1 - Laptop will cause problems.
Run the registry editor on that computer, open this key:

HLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netbt\Parameters

and delete these values if they're present:

NodeType
DhcpNodeType

Reboot, then try network access again.

If that doesn't fix it, open that registry key again, create a DWORD
value called "NodeType", and set it to 1 for "Broadcast" or 4 for
"Mixed".

For details, see these Microsoft Knowledge Base articles:

Default Node Type for Microsoft Clients

Unless you need it for a specific purpose, remove "Microsoft TCP/IP
version 6" from #3 - PC.
