I am using Win XP Home and IE 6.02. Prodigy has arbitrarily made their Home
Page mine and they have locked-out the option to change it to what I want.
Also, Web Ferret, which I have used for searching for years won´t connect
either so I can do a real search.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as to how I can return my
options to normal.

Remove IE/OE Branding:

For the second:

Has Prodigy added a proxy server connection? You should be able to see such
by looking in your connection settings in IE's options.

Take a look at HijackThis. You should be able to set your homepage back to
what you want.

Are you not able to navigate to your desired web search page at all? Check
your Host files to see if something was added to prevent it.
