i have boughta netgear router and it works fantastically. I have a laptop
(which i use wireless to connect) and a desktop (which i use wired lan to
connect to) I have attempted to set up a home newtwork on both computers
using the same network codes ect. On my desktop i can open network places and
i click workgroup computers, and then i get an icon for my laptop. However if
i try to click it a box appears saying that my computer doesen't have
permission. Likewise on my laptop except when i click workgroup computers i
get the same box and therefore cannot even see an icon for my desktop. I have
repeated the proccess following all the help and support instructions and the
same thing happens each time
Please any tips would be appreciated.

Christophet,

One of the most common causes of this problem, which is discussed a lot in these
forums, would be a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or other
security component. There are several other possibilities too, and any might be
the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open mind.

For more direct help, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):
