home networking stopped working

my network worked fine for months now can not connect. used the Win XP to set
it up, conected thru a router. Internet works fine on both but neither
computer can see the other. have changed names, tried to set up new network &
more many times. once it worked for one of the computers then it lost it
again. any help?

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. Maybe a change that
happened from a software installation or upgrade, or a Microsoft hotfix. There
are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem.

The browser, which is the subsystem that lets you see other computers thru the
network, can give you this sort of problem. If you like, provide "browstat
status", "ipconfig /all", and "net config" from each computer, so we can
diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely (download browstat!):
