Home network setup problem

I have 2 Dell desktops in the house both running XP Home. I have a DSL modem
from Bellsouth with a Linksys router. One Dell is connected to the router
via ethernet cable, the second one is on a wireless connection. I can access
the internet on both computers but cannot get the network setup correctly to
share files, printers, etc.

I have gone through the network setup wizard a couple of times and it seems
to be ok but when I go to view the computers in my workgroup I get themessage
that "George (the network name) is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the network administrrator
to find out if you have access to this resource. The list of servers for
this work group is currently unavaiulable."

We do not have sign-ons for the computers as it's only my wife and me using
them so that should automatically give us adminstrator rights. Right?

I have Norton Internet Security 2004 on both computers but last night I
uninstalled it on the first computer (for a different problem) and disabled
it on the 2nd computer with the same results.

I even tried setting the network up with different names for the computers
and the network - thus "George" - but no luck. So now do I have 2 networks
setup?? Do I need to/can I gget rid of them and start over?

I would appreciate any suggestions. I'm new to networking and am obviously
still feeling my way through the process.

Thanks--
Tom

Well I went back through a few more older posts, got some ideas and tried
once more.

I disabled not only Norton INternet Security but also Norton AntiVirus plus
the Windows XP Firewall. I ran the setup wizard only on the first computer
but it all worked. Then I eneabled both Norton programs on both compiters
but used the Norton Wizard to let these 2 computers talk all the time using
the specific IP addresses. So far so good - it seems to be working!

Thanks for the help and input.

Good luck latkes. I'll check back on this string to see if you have any luck.
