I have a HN with two computers. Somehow the 'network neighborhood' has become
messed up. I click the desktop 'network neighborhood' and it doesnt show either
computer anymore. If I click the 'network neighborhood' tab in Windows Explorer,
it shows the Shared Folders icon from the previous name of the computer.... two
years ago. The second computer shows nothing in either place. So I tried to
reset-up the home network with new computer names, but nothing happened.

So Im wondering what happened and what do I do? Or is there a way to remove the
previous settings and start over?

Im stumped.

I assume that you mean "My Network Places", which is what XP calls the
window that shows shared disks and folders on the network. Windows
95/98/Me has something similar called "Network Neighborhood". Note
that "My Network Places" doesn't show computers -- just shares.

Right-click and delete any undesired shares. Click "Add a network
place" and add any desired shares.

Thanks. I've done that. And reset the HN, but now Im getting a message that I
dont 'have permission' to access the second computer, which is a laptop with
W98. Steve, I have done nothing that I know of to mess with either of these, but
they are blocking me out (already run virus and spyware scans). Even after I add
the W98 share on the XP, I still cant get to it, and I cant even look at
anything from the W98.
