Hello.
I am having trouble with my net work. My net work config is:
HOST COMP: XP Pro, SP2, Firewall Off
CLIENTS: 2K PRO, SP4
I followed the steps I could find on the microsoft
knowledge base adn I found out that it WILL access the
computer via pinging the IP address, but the compuer names
(Ito-1 to Ito-7) won't work whatsoever. They are all in
workgroup "Ito-WG".
I tried ping remote by ip address, ping loopback, ping
local ip (from all), but none of that was wrong. and the
configurations for determining whether the names are
resolveing right seem to be right.

Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name and version) with each ipconfig listing.
Are you running both Client for Microsoft Networks, and File and Printer Sharing
for Microsoft Networks (Local Area Connection - Properties), on each computer?
Are you running NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (Local Area Connection - Properties - TCP/IP
- Properties - Advanced - WINS) on each computer?
Make sure the browser service is running on each computer. Control Panel -
Administrative Tools - Services. Verify that the Computer Browser, and the
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper, services both show with Status = Started.
Your problem most likely involves the Browser subsystem. The Microsoft Browstat
program will show us what browsers you have in your domain / workgroup, at any
time.

Browstat is very small (40K), needs no install, and runs from the command
prompt. Just drop it onto a couple workstations, and run it.
Please provide browstat information for each computer.
