Have 4 machines;

2 - WinXP w/SP 2
2 - Win98 SE

ALL machines see each other but only 3 can transfer/copy data amongst themselves
One of the WinXP w/SP 2 machines sees everyone but none of the other 3 machines can
access.
I get popup boxes saying I need access permission!
The problem WinXP w/SP 2 machine has everything shared on it!
Is there something hidden that will allow me to give permission to the machines on my
home LAN???
Seems I've tried everything but thought someone here might add something I haven't
covered or thought of.

Many thanks in advance.

You said the WinXP SP2 machine has everything shared on it. Make sure that
the Everyone user has permissions to those share and that the Everyone user
security rights to them. Just right click on the drive and this is all
under the Sharing & Security... option. I wouldn't really recommend
opening this up to everyone. I would recommend creating a user on the
Windows XP machine that the users of the Windows 98 machines could use to
access files on the XP machine. You can create a user on the machine by
right clicking on My Computer and selecting Manage. Then under the System
Tools...Local Users and Groups. If you want them to have permission to
everything add the user to the Administrator group.

Also you should check the Windows Firewall, Control Panel | Windows
Firewall, and make sure under the exceptions tab that the "File and Print
Sharing" has a check next to it.

Tried everything you mention here and nothing worked :(
I even tried switching everything and everyone to Administrator member and still doesn't
work.
