Home Folders not mapping

R

Rick

We have multiple AD sites through out the country, I have users setup
to connect to their home folder in their profile. On some of my users,
when they logon they get no home folder mapping. I can map manually to
the folder. The folder is on the cluster with appropriate permissions.
What can I do to troubleshoot this issue?

How are you configuring this? Through the user object's properties?

Are you seeing any warnings and/ or errors in the client event logs?

Are the shares and folders all on the active node?

we are mapping the Homefolder in the user properties

the users are in the North East and we have them mapping to the South
West cluster. If I map them to the North East Cluster, it maps. can
this happen if there is a latency issue? how can I check?

Are you sure that the necessary mappings have replicated to the DC that is
authenticating the users?

what I found is alot of articles saying I need to created the share
first then the share should map, this is not the case. If I populate
the profile with my script, I need to go in to the user properties and
click apply, this will give me a message saying the homefolder exists
for the user and I click ok. to test my theory, I leave the share
alone and rerun my script, then I logon as that user and I get no
mapping, I then go into the user properties and change the drive
letter from H to I and back to H just so I can click on the apply
button. I get the same message saying the share is there and click ok.
then when I logon as that user I get the homefolder mapped. My script
works ok, but somewhere I need to click apply to active the mapping.
How can I get around this

Make sure the users have all modify rights to their folder, and
directory traverse rights (or just read) to any parent folders.

It happens that Rick formulated :

are you doing this with GPO?
if so, take a look at the second tab page and check off the "exclusive
right"
this makes that the user has to be the owner of the folder
this option is not required for the correct working
if you pre create this folder this will not be the case

we are doing folder redirection with a GPO, but we have the homefolder
setup in the user profile with a script. (see above)
