I used my XP Home edition for one and a half years, and constantly
annoyed by this problem, and I can find tens of similar posts in MS's
newsgroup, disappointingly, nobody provide solutions to it.
here is the problem:
when I start IE browser, and trying to type/paste some text in the
edit box in the webpage(for example the search box in google.com), the
browser get frozen, and then I can do nothing that related to web
browsing (for example, open another IE window and browsing), AND, if I
open winamp to play music, it will get frozen too!!!
when I trying to close this frozen IE window, and choosing "end now",
it takes a while and popup another window says "Close Program - MCI
Command Handling Window", choose "close it", and it takes forever! I
can not reboot the computer by selecting start\turn off computer, the
only thing I can do is power off.
At the very beginning I thought it was IE's fault, so, I changed to
Mozilla Firefox, however, exactly the same thing happens. I patched my
XP with SP1 and all latest packages, but all won't help. Every day,
this happened once or more. Another computer running XP pro never has
this kind of problem.
So, I would suggest the tech support people from MS looking over this
problem because so many people are suffering from it.
