I have some files on my computer at home that are fairly large (>400mb) that
I want my son, who is now away at college, to have. I've tried email but
they are just too large.

Can someone please tell how my son can access the computer at home from his
laptop at school?

Thanks is advance.

Bill

Are they files that you wouldn't want the world to be able to access? If that's
not important, you could always upload the files to a suitable binary newsgroup
or to alt.binaries.test. That's the way a friend and I often exchange large
files.

If they are too private for that, the CD route would be the best one.

I suggest you try Windows Messenger, and its File - Send a File. That
is quite efficient and fast, and should be happy with files
significantly larger than that. If you use a firewall, you will need
to tell it to let Messenger at your end act as a server
