It's insane, I bought some Kingston HyperX KHX3200AK2, 1G (2 x 512MB) for
$176 in late Dec 03 (Kingston direct), it's now $286!, and that's on promo!
(normally $337). Right now, we're in the gouging phase, vendors are trying
to recoup prior losses on the backs of current upgraders. It will takes a
few more weeks/months before this strategy plays out completely, and prices
come down again.

PriceScan.com also allows you to see pricing history for
a particular item, e.g. Kingston DDR333 SDRAM, 512MB,
64Mx64 CL2.5, Mfg Part No: KVR333X64C25512, has a lower
price that fluctuates between $60 and $80, with the low
point being around 12 months ago, and a second low spot
around 2 months ago. http://www.pricescan.com/graphs/graph135146.asp
Prices seem to be up slightly, all depends on what
you're looking to buy.
