Holding the result of a formula constant or frozen

Hi there

I have created an excel that calculates a value based on a number of user
defined variables. The excel is calulating everything correctly. However, I
need the value calculated to remain static since once it has been calculated,
a final user input will chnage some of the variables that contributed to the
original calculated value.

For example, the calculated value is 15% and resides in cell C17.
A user can then input a value into cell C18 (that may or may not be equal to
15%) but this value will affect the variables that resulted in the original
calculated value in C17. I want the value in C17 to remain constant after it
is originally calculated so that the user can compare what has been
originally calculated to what they are choosing to enter in C18.

Any ideas on how to do this?

Cheers
