Hello,

I'm using windows xp pro media edition sp2, I have a 120gb hd
partictioned. (20gig) local drive c), (100gig) local drive e). I also
have on the same machine a 200gb hd (NOT Partictioned) local drive d.

I uninstalled my norton antivirus program to re install a newer verion,
when norton ghost uninstalled, my d drive had been renamed local drive
c. Now I have 2 local drive c's, one I can access and the other I
cannot. I can see the hd in device manager & administrative tools,
however I cannot access.

Any clues to what might have happened, and how to resolve....?

Which was it?
Norton AntiVirus or Norton Ghost?
Can you not rename the device in Disk Manager to D?

The Program was norton Premier, norton Ghost was incorporated...

can't change in disk manager it says it's a master boot record on it....

Whew...!!!!!!!!

Found the problem. It was norton's "goback" One of the features
Symantec bought from Roxio... When I uninstalled Nortons Premier,
goback, ghost and all in the software packaged were uninstalled. During
the process Goback, created a "MBR" on the disk drive to ensure it
would boot without goback on the machine... when that happened it made
it look like I had two c drives.. However The other c drive had no
drive letter associated with it, and was only viewable in device
manager, and administrative tools...

I had to reinstall norton syst.wks & goback from the HD, rename my
cdrom drive to (D:\) and put the norton cd in that drive before it
could be corrected.

Wow what a scare............
