Hit Counter adds other pages?

The hit counter is adding to itself everytime I go to one of the other pages
in the website. How do I get it to only calculate those hits on the home
page? The home page is the only place I have a hit counter.

I don't think so. It is in a table by itself.

If it is only on the home page, you shouldn't see it on other pages.
And every time you refresh the home page it will increment...that norbal

If you mean that you go to another page then return to the home page, that
is counted as another hit. That's why counters are rather useless.

have you put the counter in the shared border? if that is the case, yes it will
increment for every hit of a page containing that shared border - you may have
done this unintentionally, but it shouldn't incremement on a page that doesn't
have the counter, however it does increment for *every* hit to the page (hence
the name, "hit" counter").

I guess I have come to that conclusion as well. One person on your website
that does alot of exploring can be counted 20 times. What good is that?
