For most keyboards, using Word, press Ctrl+Shift+~ followed by the n. This
technique works for most other accented characters, as well (e.g., Ctrl+'
followed by e gets you é).

Besides the dialog, which is time-consuming, you can use the shortcut
Ctrl+~,n (that is, press Ctrl, Shift, and the ~ key together, release
them and press n).

For more on a variety of methods of inserting special characters (including
some that work outside Word), see
