highlighting entire functions

is there any quick way of highlighting entire functions in a formula? In
other words, I know that the parentheses "bold up" when you arrow over their
counterparts, but is there a way to have a double-click sort of action that
selects the entire function, whereever you might be in it?

I don't know, but if I'm editing a formula, I can do:

Home followed by Shift-End key
or
End followed by shift-home.

Or just use the mouse to "paint" over all the formula.

Does what you wrote get me from one end of the formula line to the other and
vice versa, while highlighting along the way?

I am looking for something that distinguishes teh end points of a function
inside a formula. Not sure if that initially made sense.
