I need to use a pointer, draw arrows etc during a presentation to highlight
parts of the slide. Is there a simpler way than having to use the drawing
tools. I've been told that Powerpoint provides a function to do this but
can't find it. Cheers, David

You can use the line autoshape to draw arrows. But this has to be done during
the editing mode, not in slide show. After which, you can animate the arrows
so that it appears only when you want it to (You can set the start to On
click. If you are using PowerPoint 2002/XP or 2003, you can also use
triggers).

PowerPoint Heaven - The Power to Animate
=========

In PowerPoint 2002/2003 right click on the screen while in Slide Show mode.
Select Pointer Options. From there you find other options...

As above but if you havent got a steady hand or access to a nice stable
"mouse area" heres a neat way to highlight anything.

Use autoshapes to put a shape in front of the area to be highlighted. Stars,
callouts etc can all be used. Set the fill and line to nil. Now set up a
custom animation (emphasis) to change the colour to yellow and the
transparency to 50% (with previous). Trigger this with a click on the shape.
You will also need an exit animation on click in the trigger sequence. Looks
good and often baffles the audience!
