high speed connection hic-ups

Hi, I have a Cable modem and periodically lost my connection. It happens
randomly. It also happened when I had DSL and now I have cable and it does
the same thing. Obviously its my computer, I just dont know where to begin
to fix it. Its been going on for well over a year. I even had my cpu
replaced recently and it didnt even work. Any suggestions would be most
helpful.
Thank you.

How is the cable modem connected to your computer? Is it directly
connected? Is it USB or Ethernet ? Do you use a boardband router?

I don't think that it is obviously your computer. I had a similar problem
back around June. I had the cable company (Comcast) out to my house numerous
times. They replaced the modem, the drop line to my house and other
things.Turned out to be a bad node I was on. It took them about 5 or 6 trips
out to my house but they finally got everything working right and even
credited my account for the period when I was having trouble. Call your
cable company and try to get them to come out when you actually have a lost
connection.
