Hiding the task bar

I have my task bar on Auto Hide but when receiving a
message from one of my messengers.. ie.. msn or yahoo it
makes the task bar pop up like it was in the locked
position. Does anyone know how to avoid that? I want to
be able to control it.

Unfortuantely, the messenger program is coded to hook the
task bar, without an option not to.. I've tried..
Annoying to say the least.
