Hiding rows question

John

Hi. I am using a database that contains 40 tests on one
page but the spreadsheet is made up of 4 pages (the
following sheets are 1st Trimester, 2nd Trimester, 3rd
Trimester). I am transfering data from the first sheet to
the next 3 sheets by using the condition by which
trimester the test was given in. I use the Trimester
sheets by saying if I put a "1" in front of the test, it
belongs on the 1st Trimester page, a "2" and it belongs
on the 2nd Trimester page, and a "3" and it belongs on
the 3rd Trimester sheet.

The problem is that to do this I had to format each sheet
for every test for the entire year (all 40 of them),
which means sometimes I have many blank rows because the
2nd trimester sheet starts in the middle, and the 3rd
trimester sheet starts towards the bottom of the sheet.

Is there a way to format the worksheets that if a row is
left blank, it will be automatically hidden? I know this
may be confusing and I am sorry if it is. Thanks for any
help!

Make a copy of the master sheet (click and drag its tab while holding CTRL)
to work from.

Select all your data (including blank rows), then sort on the test field.
This'll shunt all blanks to the bottom, then you can copy and paste your 1s,
2s and 3s to respective sheets.

There are much cuter ways of doing this but hey, how long can it take?

Rgds,
Andy
