Hiding Rows and dealing with superimposed image on worksheet

I have two questions that I have been trying to post for the last few
minutes - hopefully there will not be multiple posts.\\

1) I would like to hide some rows and columns. I understand the hidden
commmand, but I ahve seen worksheets where the rows and columns numbers
do not even appear. Someone sent one and I do not know how to
duplicate the concept. I can add a row in the displayed section, and
the worksheet displayed rows increase. If I delete the row, though,
the displayed rows do not decrease, leaving some traditional,
accessible blank rows at the bottom, which I would prefer not to do.
How can I delete rows or columns and have even the row designations not
appear at the edge?

2) I also received a worksheet with a page number 'superimposed' on top
of the worksheet. I can write over it, view through it, etc., but it
stays there. How do I access it to delete it - it does not appear to
be attached to any cell as far as I can determine.

1)The only way of achieving this is to hide the rows and then switch off the
row and column headings (Tools>Options...>View>uncheck column and row
headings

2) You are in page break preview. Go to View menu and click 'Normal'

Thanks for your response. That Page Break view answered the first part
of my question accurately - that was it. I did not realize that such a
thing existed.

As to the other part of the question, I know there is a way. I have a
worksheet in front of me that was done by another person that has row
and column headers over the part of the worksheet that is in use, and
no row and column headers over the rest of the worksheet. The
worksheet does not fill the screen, and the area of the worksheet that
is not actively used appears gray in color. I could send the worksheet
to you if that would help. I wish there was just a good instruction
manual to cover these things. I bought several books and most of them
are useless.

Hi RJQMAN,

Select all columns beyound the range of interest and hide them. Then select
all rows below the range of interest and hide them.
