Hiding/Expanding rows in Excel?

Artreid

In Excel 2003 I would like to combining (for lack of a better term)
several rows into one and have it structured so that when I click the main
row (Call it Misc;) it would expand all the Misc,/Items rows hidden under
it. I would also need to be able to add/total any numbers in the hidden rows
in the main or top row.

Thanks for any assistance

Perhaps Data>Subtotal would work for you?

Or Data>Group and Outline?

I try this and get a sun for all the columns in the rows. But how do I
collapse the rows into one until I expand them?

After you've applied the subtotals, you'll see outlining symbols to the left.

You can click on the + and - (plus and minus symbols in little squares) to the
left of the worksheet window. These hide or show details.

Now look up above these +/- symbols. You'll see 1, 2, 3, ... in little boxes at
the same level as the column letters.

Try clicking on those numbers to see what happens. What what happens if you
click on the highest number, then the next, ..., then finally the 1.
