Hidiing Folders from the Guest account???

K

Kayle

I am trying to create a user account on XP home that will allow me to hide
certain folders lactated in my C and D drives. Also I want to be able to
prevent that user form being able to install and uninstall programs. And
also prevent them from being able to delete files that they have not
created.

I have looked at the options in the create user account dialogue but that
seems pretty limited.

Thanks,
Kayle

Lactating folders are protected by XP's fathering instinct.

Guest and limited users are prevented from writing/deleting in the
Program Files and Windows folders. Other account My Documents folders
are prevented from being read if those accounts are set to make profile
private.

Put your folders to protect inside the My Documents folder on one of
your accounts and create a limited account and see if that does what you
need.

Otherwise you may create a new folder somewhere such as the root of C:
and remove modify (or perhaps all) privilege from the Users group.
You'll have to boot to safe mode in order to see the security tab in
Windows Explorer.
