hide ranges?

Is there a way to make certain ranges of pages hidden so that either they
must be unlocked with a password or only certian users can view/edit them?

You can hide columns and/or rows. If you then apply protection to the
sheet with Tools | Protect Sheet, you can specify what to protect and
supply a password so that users cannot unhide the rows/columns. There
are ways around the password protection, but it will suffice for most
users.
