How do I make that eyeball gizmo at the bottom of the
browser in Internet Explorer go away? I went ahead and
allowed cookies for my homepage, which is BellSouth, and
it still stares at me. This started when I downloaded the
critical update for IE6. Any help would be appreciated.

Double click "eyeball">R-Click BellSouth>Always accept cookies from this
site.
Or:
IE Options>Privacy Tab>Edit button>scroll down to BellSouth entry >R-Click
select> always allow

This won't "hide" the privacy eye, but rather it will remove it (from being
displayed) as you will not restrict the site from depositing cookies.
