Anyone know how to totally hide one icon from the system tray? I don't mean
the type of "hide " that XP allows where the icon shows when you click the
arrow on the system tray......I mean eliminate an application's icon from
the system tray completely without stopping the application.

Right click the task bar, then click properties.
At the bottom is a Customize button, you can hide icons from there.

That is precisely what I said I did NOT want. It only hides the icon
temporarily. As I said, I want to eliminate the icon completely from the
system tray without stopping the application.

There is a way to hide ALL icons by tweaking the system registry, but I only
want to remove one icon from the system tray. I though maybe someone had
seen an app to do that.....

Perhaps I posted using a misleading subject. I will repost with a more
precise subject line.

I think that if you look again - you will see that if you click on the icon
you want to hide - over in the right hand side for options you will see the
"Always Hide".

True. But the icon still shows when you click the "<" arrow.

I also saw your other post and now know what you are asking for. Sorry for
the misguided suggestion. Is this a commercial product's icon you want to
hide? The more customer aware products offer a choice when right clicking
the icon or going into properties for the program to not place it in the
taskbar - but not enough of them. 8^)

Yes it is. It doesn't have hiding the icon as an option. :(

Hi Kelly,

Nice page! Lot's of good info! But, alas, this didn't hide the lone
icon.

Thanks for the link to your page. I'll dive in deeper when I get this
project under a little more control.

Thanks for the post,
Jim Hubbard

Thanks, Jim.
