I am using the calendar function. I have personal, non-business items that I
need to add to the calendar so that I don't overschedule myself. Is there a
way for me to add personal items (child's doctor appointment) and not have it
show up when I print or when others view my calendar?

Click the Private checkbox and others will see that you're not available but not know the details. You can use a filtered view to exclude private items from printouts.
