Hide Adminaccount on startup screen...

Wrang

Hi,

i already read some posts to this topic and now i really
wonna now it:

is it possible to hide the administrators account on the
win xp pro startup screen?

On my computer, there are 5 restricted user accounts and
the standard win xp administrator account. because there
is no other adminaccount than the standrad admin, the
admin account is shown on the startup screen. i want the
computer run in a publix place and thats why no user
should see the admin account, just the restricted
useraccounts.

is that possible without switchin into the ein2k logon
startupscreen?

thanks
Wrang

Hi Wrang,

There is a way to do this...but involves going into your registry. If you
are not comfortable using your registry please do not proceed.

Start the Registry Editor (Start - Run - regedit)
Navigate toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \
CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \ SpecialAccounts \ UserList \
Right-click an empty space in the right pane and select New > DWORD Value
Name it exactly as your username appears. (Administrator). Give it a value
of 0.
Close the registry.

This should hide the user account from your Logon screen.

To re enable it, just delete the registry key that you added for that user.

Thx,
Nico
