Hidden system32 directory

Brian

After upgrading to WinXP my System32 directory is hidden.
I see all files thru dos but can't see the actual
directory in windows. How can I unhide this directory. My
folder options is set to show all files.

Can you;
Start | Run | Type or Copy and Paste: C:\WINDOWS\system32 | OK
and have it open?

Hi. I've been having the same problem for over a year, this is on WinXP SP-2 home edition.

I can Start>Run>\windows\system32 successfully, but if I go up one directory the system32 subdirectory isn't there any more. I have all security settings set pretty much "wide open" and the files/folders properties are set to "view all file types" including hidden files.

A related symptom is that I sometimes need to use a full file/path name when trying to use certain system32 files from the command line. Looked around the registry and use Xedit to try to find a "switch" that may have been set to hide the folder, but can't find anything interesting.
