Hidden folders questions - can I hide a hidden folder?

Most hidden folders are very useful and I want to see them but there are a few that are part of the core program and shouldn't be
touched. I was wondering if there is any way I can change their appearance (to hide them would be ideal) so I can ignore them more
easily when I'm organizing in Windows Explorer? I can change the icon appearance which is a partial solution.

"Core program" - which program or programs are you referring to? The
operating system? Others?

Must be the operating system. Other files, especially in Documents and Settings can be temp folders, preferences, mailboxes, etc.
I wish they weren't hidden. But for the OS hidden files, of course I want to make sure I never touch those by accident.

That's easy:

1) You said "when I'm organizing". There's no need for you to be organizing
anything in C:\WINDOWS or its subfolders unless you're trying to track down
or fix extremely rare problems. In that case, you'd take your hands away
from the keyboard & mouse until you'd given lots of thought into what was
the right thing to do.

2) Collapse the C:\WINDOWS folder and leave it alone. You know what that
means, right?

Theres very little need to 'organise' in explorer, ceratinly not for temp
files or data files

Joe's advice is good, especially if you are the only one using this
computer.
I've been showing hidden files in my folders ever since MS decided you
could hide them. Except for deleting temporary files occasionally in the
Windows/temp folder I stay away from C:\Windows.

I'm not touching anything in C:\WINDOWS
Its mostly (at least for now) in Documents and Settings.

What I meant was I just want to be able to know where and what things are doing there.

Well you could make the folders hidden.
Just right-click the folder and chose properties and tick "hidden".

If you have your folder view option set to not display hidden it won't
be displayed.
If you do have the folder view option set to display hidden files and
folders the folder will be displayed slightly transparent.

Yeah....kind of knew all that.

Control Panel
Folder Options
View (tab)
Check "Hide protected operating system files"

This will hide those OS files that you don't want to see and
accidentally do something bad to them.

Yeah - I think we all know about that too. Oh well I guess the icon appearance change is the best that can be done. And its a
pretty good solution.
