hidden files in XP

There is a hidden file in XP that stores programs that
were previously installed. This has led to problems
finding and deleting adware, since the program installs
itself again. How do I show those hidden files?
 
Explorer, tools, folder options, view tab and uncheck relevant settings
 
Guess you mean Windows Restore points.
Turn off System Restore in MyComputer/Properties/ SystemRestore/check Turn
off System Restore on all drives. That will delete all restore
points/Apply/OK. Later, you can re-enable System Restore.
