Hidden Files are...hidden

I am trying to download part of a music archive to "test" it for bit
rate to see if I want to bother downloading the whole thing. I have
DAP download accelerator and I start the download in a known location.
After a couple of meg comes down, I stop the process. But, I can't
locate the file...no search parameters turn it up. I start the
download again, it picks up where it left off, and after a bit I stop
it and go looking for it again. No joy!!!

Now, where is this partial download being stored for resuming?? It
isn't where I tell it to be, so it must be creating some hidden
archive...searching over size and date for any file gives me nothing.
So, where are these things being temporarily stored??? It should be
easy to find a couple meg file that was just downloaded...but I can't.

I must be missing something about search and hidden files...I know
about the view options to display all hidden files and to seach hidden
files.

Any ideas what may be happening??

Thanks.

It's probably in a temporary folder....I don't use download accelerators
myself, and don't know anything about the DAP thingy you mention, but you
might check with the people who make it.

By default, when you download stuff in IE, the temp files are in
c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temporary internet files
or you might also check in " " \temp

(local settings *is* a hidden folder, note)

The file may not be initially downloaded under its final name. It is likely
in a temporary folder under a coded name that is utilized by the download
accelerator program. After the download is completed, the file is copied to
it's final chosen download folder (the one you specified) with the correct
name. The original is then likely deleted.

Besides the preceeding, DAP downloads from multiple sources (mirrors) and
reunites the pieces. Probably couldn't use a partial download at all.

Don't stop the download ! it will never show anywhere unless you le
it finish, and always look where it's putting the file, IE music t
the music folder makes it simpler

If it did download it fully, likely it's in a temporary downloa
folder in the C:\ root directory
