Hidden close button on form?

Using Access ’03…

I have a form (form B) that opens from the command button on another
form (form A).

I don’t have a command button on form B to close it; I let users use
the Close button. Problem is, however, the Close button does not
always show (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t). I have this
same problem when some of my queries open.

When form B opens, it’s maximize, although I do not put a
docmd.maximize in the load/activate/or open statements (though I have
tried, but it doesn’t fix my problem).

One interesting note: When the form (form B) is open, when I hit the
restore button, the window slides slightly downward and I can see the
close button. I hit the maximize button and the close button is now
visible!

You may be asking why I use the close button instead of a command
button. I do have some command buttons that close my forms, but
sometimes they’re not as quick as the close button; in addition, I
sometimes open queries in my application and the user needs the close
button (which also sometimes doesn’t show).

Any ideas?

Hi Alex,

Next time you open the form and don't see the close thing at the top, look
on the right side of the access window and see if you see a scroll bar.

There's no vertical or horizontal scroll bar; I disabled them both.

I "fixed" the problem, but I don't know why it's acting this way...
If I show the close button on my switchboard (loads on startup) then I
can see all the close buttons. If I disable/hide the close button on
my switchboard, I get the issue I describe above. Not sure why...

Hi Alex,

Just to be clear, the scroll bar I was talking about would be a vertical one
on the application window, NOT on a form or report or anything like that.

I've had instances where when a form opened, for whatever reason, Access
seemed to think the form was too big to fit and the main work area of the
application so the window would gain a vertical scroll bar and it would
actually scroll down just a little and hide the top of the form from view.

Anyway, that's all I got :)
