* What keyboard combination will put a computer into hibernation (wait or
sleep) mode ?
* What keyboard combination can wake a computer out of this hibernation
state ?

I would prefer NOT to reboot this machine.

Create a new shortcut on desktop or in Start Menu. Set the target to :
rundll32 powerprof.dll,SetSuspendState

* What keyboard combination can wake a computer out of this hibernation
state ?

Windows or any software can't do that.

Use the "Power button" for both. Look in Control Panel, Power Options,
Advanced. Or open Windows help and support and look up read the
instructions for Hibernate.
