I tried the RC1 Candidate for SP1, ended up uninstalling it.
It broke my hibernation and did something to my PC.
It hangs everytime I try the on button.
The BIOS doesn't go anywhere.
It doesn't shutdown either.

I did not install anything else.
I did not tweak or even go into my BIOS.
Hibernation worked fine and the PC booted fine before the SP1 package.

I just wondered what the best course is to repair this?

I cannot think of a way that an operating system or service pack could
interfere with your BIOS. How and where did you get the SP1 RC that you
used?

I recommend reinstalling the OS, preferably with your Vista DVD, or with
your system restore DVDs, or using your recovery partition.

Before you do that, though, wait a little and see what else others here may
recommend. Then let us know how things turned out.

Wipe the drive and clean install the operating system. This is why you
never install a beta on a production machine. Report your findings to
the proper channel for bug-fixing. That isn't here.
