Hibernation behavior

Coming back up from hibernation or standby *always*
causes my machine to immediately go back into hibernation
(or standby depending on original shutdown mode). It's
only when I restart the second time that the system stays
up. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

I believe it's a known problem with the hibernation mode in windows xp.

I also had that problem when I first got my laptop, once it goes out of
hibernation mode, the system will slow to a crawl or hangs.

I just turned that feature off because of it's useless.
