Hi i put xp sp2 onto my machine and IE 6 wont connect to web sites

Hi i put xp sp2 onto my machine and IE 6 wont connect to web sites it just
says ie cannot open the page. Yet i can ping the web site with no problems
and mail wont connect any help gratefully received

WinXP SP2: You can go to Start | Run and type
CMD
In the command window type
netsh winsock reset
