PC is running fine in the lab. Student project needs it, so I
lone it out. Student comes back and says it won't boot.
I go, and the screen is stopped at ntloader .. won't load??
Solution is obvious, right? Bad file.
Here's what really happened: The case fan was dusty,
and when the student carried the PC to another lab, the
dust shifted and stuck the fan. The stuck fan overloaded
the psupply, and dropped the 12 volt rail out of regulation.
That blew the brand new SATA drive as it was trying to
boot, and all the drives went flakey, and even the floppy
won't boot. I'm now sure its the mobo, but I start swapping
parts into a new working PC. See the SATA drive won't
boot in the new PC. RMA to Maxtor. Replace drive with
another new one, and PC still won't boot. Swap out
psupply. System boots.
A dust bunny blew case fan, SATA drive, and psupply.
About $200 damage, and 2 days troubleshoot and
reinstall. Getting out my leaf blower to go dust out
about 1200 users PCs. It NEVER stops coming.
