Hercules TV Tuner USB 2.0: (very) bad image quality (tv and video

Hi,

I recently bought an external video card, but impossible to watch or capture
whatsoever.
I recieve a signal, that's about it. (The colours are changing, (huge)
stripes, (huge) moving blocks, grey, black and white, 'snow'...)
Switching between PAL, NTSC and Secam doesn't help...
As for as I know, all cable connections are right.
My computer (portable, Toshiba Satellite Pro A60) has all possible
requirements...

What can I do?

Thanks a lot for every help,
Bizy

How is the source reaching the tuner card.... is it a satellite receiver, a
cable box or a plain old fashioned antenna?

For television, it's an antenna, for video, it's S- and composite. (S
should be better, but it's even worse).

How many times is the signal split before it gets to the tuner? BTW you
cannot split an S-Video signal.

Don't understand exactly what you mean.

The signal comes from my video (scart/audio- S-video- composite) and goes to
the tuner. Television comes from an antenna, goes directly to the tuner also.

I think what is happening is that your single tuner card is receiving two
separate signals - one from TV and one from VCR and cannot differentiate
between the two. If it was a dual tuner, then you could input signals from
two different sources, but a single tuner card can only accept a single
source. Ensure when you watch something that you only have one source
connected to the card.

It IS only connected to my video (for I wanted to use this card for
digitalising videos)!

All this, I've done so far:
- checked the bios - there is a PAL option
- installed the latest bios (downloaded from Toshiba)
- installed a new driver for the ATI Sound Card (a Catalyst Driver Set, by
means of a mobbing tool, I will try to install an even higher version)
- uninstalled and reinstalled the Power VCR program (even looking for
registry keys)
- installed an important patch of Power VCR
- some of this relates to the procedure sent to me by Cyberlink (makers of
Power VCR), I followed the whole procedure...

All without result...

ATI make graphics cards, not soundcards..... if you reinstalled the graphics
card drivers,, make sure you get them from the TOSHIBA website, NOT from
ATI. All notebook graphic chipsets are manufactured for each specific
notebook manufacturer and there are many variations between each. Make sure
you also have the latest drivers for the USB tuner card.

Sorry, graphics card, yes.

Maybe (or probably) you're right, but I think the driver I installed (and I
did install an even more recent version now) is ok. In the (very) detailed
specifications is indicated that it's suited for my sound card.
(Anyway, I'll have another look on the Toshiba website).

The driver for the TV Tuner: I have two options: the driver program
delivered with the product, and the driver on the website of Hercules.
I tried both.
Without result.
