Windows Mail won't handle a connection to Hotmail, although I've
heard of a paid Hotmail Plus account it is more likely to be able to handle.

You may need to download and install Windows Live Mail , which is
able to handle Hotmail connections, in addition to any accounts Windows
Mail can handle.

For Comcast start at the first of these, although you might as well also
apply the second since Comcast seems to be poor at telling users
when they will be required to do this. Avoid the One Click Fix.

There are two methods of connecting to your gmail account, the IMAP
method and the POP method. Choose one of these methods, and don't
get them mixed up.
