Got this from another post...

Is there a way to prevent other users from being able to change a shared
template? I see it is possible to limit users to particular styles but what
about not changing headers and footers, margins etc?

I am using 2003.

You can put two empty paragraphs at the end of the document. Then select
everything before those two paragraphs and make it available to editing.
Because the last paragraph mark is locked out, the users won't be able to
change anything in Page Setup, including headers and footers. Otherwise,
they'll be able to work normally in the document.

My question...

How????

Thanks xx

See method 2 of
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/ProtectWord97Header.htm.

Note, this protection, based on protection for forms, can be broken in less
than 30 seconds by a user who knows how.
