Help with Windows Vista working with All-in-One Lexmark printer

I have tried to install my lexmark all-in-one printer to work on my new
computer with windows vista and it says something to the effect that windows
is missing a file that I need to even have my printer to be recognized. Not
sure if anyone else has had this issue? It worked great on my older computer
with XP. I am half tempted to take off Vista and put XP on at this rate.
Any suggestions or advice other than purchasing a new printer.

Thanks!!!

rgwindows,

Without knowing what file is missing that you need, I can only guess about
what a solution might be. If it were me doing this, I'd go to the Lexmark
website and see whether it has a Vista driver for you model of printer. If
they do, download and install the driver and then try to install the printer.
It's also possible that Lexmark has no Vista driver for your printer. In
that case, you will need to purchase a new one. The website should have
information in this regard.

Good luck,

lets do Lexmark a favor, since they don't want to write drivers for some of
their older printers for Vista lets change brands.

I have 3 things that won't work in vista. one is a creative webcam that I
just got a rebate about a month ago. They won't support this one in vista.
Then my one year old scanner. (Canon)

All you can do is go to another brand. Then eBay your old things.

There has to be a website someplace that lists all the "avoid", "it barely
works" and "works great!" hardware for Vista.

From what I can tell, my only issue is my BearPaw 1200CU scanner, which is
still doing a GREAT job under XP. The rest of my hardware seems OK. Problem
is scanners cost FOUR times what I paid for this one new, and compatibility
is still not guaranteed.

FYI: This thread may be describing the same issue that's documented in the
thread entitled "Prob[l]em installing driver software", which was started on
5/13/07.
